Wellington Clock Tower, Swanage

9 January 2017 | Sectors | Heritage Featured, News, Structural

The southerlies blow hard in Swanage.  CTP is helping restore Wellington clock tower, a Grade II listed memorial erected in 1868, standing 20m tall and sited 50m from the shoreline.  We are working with specialist heritage contractor, Stress UK, and local conservation architect, Anna Stevens, diagnosing defects and assisting works.

Salt spray has taken its toll on embedded iron cramps, which need careful removal.  Temporary strapping is required around the outside of the stonework to stop the quadripartite vault falling apart whilst ties are replaced.
