New Avenue Phase 1 is a large residential development in New Southgate that incorporates a central amenity space designed to attenuate surface water if the surface water sewer is inundated during an extreme event. The photograph shows the sheet piled retaining walls lined with stone filled gabions during the installation of the play surface. Upon completion the amenity space will have play equipment, a terraced bank with seating and extensive planting to create a focal point.
