Acacia Hall – Public Realm Regeneration and Building Refurbishments
Once the historic Dartford residence of entrepreneur Sir Henry Wellcome, Acacia Hall has been transformed through a dynamic regeneration project led by Dartford Borough Council. This initiative connected the town centre’s ongoing redevelopment with the Fast-Track bus system, while restoring Acacia Hall’s cultural and environmental heritage.
CTP provided civil and structural engineering expertise across several project phases, including:
- Demolition of former GlaxoSmithKline buildings.
- Restoration of the chalk stream flowing through the site.
- Refurbishment and structural repairs to the historic Mill, Coach House, and the Darenth Suite Ballroom.
- Bridge Improvements, including the refurbishment of a pedestrian bridge and construction of an additional pedestrian bridge along with two new vehicular bridges.
- Road and Footpath Realignment across the site, incorporating shared surfaces for safe pedestrian access, linking to nearby parks and enhancing accessibility for the community.
- New Parking Area to serve visitors and improve site access.
- Drainage Upgrades, introducing sustainable drainage solutions such as ponds, infiltration tanks, and permeable paving for improved water management.
