Cavendish School, Camden

The Cavendish School in Camden underwent the construction of a new classroom and theatre block, with CTP serving as the Structural and Civil Engineering Consultants.

CTP played a key role in devising a solution to maximise the available area for the new building. Given the limited space on the inner-city site, CTP focused on reinforcing the substructure to serve as a working platform throughout the construction phase, providing the contractor’s compound and materials storage.

The superstructure was composed of a steel frame supporting concrete upper floors. The building was erected on a piled raft foundation allowing it to span over both a new surface water attenuation tank and the remnants of a pre-existing buried basement on the site.
