The new multi-million standalone building houses 3 operating theatres for the Kent and Medway Orthopaedic Centre at Maidstone Hospital, and opened in September 2024.

The building also houses 24 dedicated surgical beds for patients having planned orthopaedic surgery.

CTP provided detailed design services for the foundations and substructure and below ground drainage design for the new Modular Building including detailed designs for the new electrical switch room building and generator compound area.

Due to the presence of possible swallow holes in the chalk sub-strata, the foundations to the new building comprised a reinforced concrete cellular raft foundation designed to span over any potential holes should they ever develop beneath the building.
