Located in Malta’s busy commercial district Paceville, the proposed upgrade of the existing at-grade signalised junction and compact roundabout (along Highway 1 and the Europe-wide TEN-T network) will provide much needed highway capacity and high-quality pedestrian links between Swieqi and Paceville.

To deliver these improvements in a space constrained area, our proposals included the construction of a compact grade separated flyover with an unusual dumbbell roundabout at-grade. This is a highly complex project in a dense urban environment and our focus was on delivering a functional design that provided socio-economic benefits for the local community.

CTP have provided civil and structural engineering services with an emphasis on the integration of the junction with its surroundings, including:

• A full suite of highways drawings.
